Fireworks and flags

About half of July is about the 4th: firework bursts, rockets, sparklers, balloons and kids waving flags. One page has a campfire party with sparklers, and two kids carry a flag beside their puppy in another.

Beaches and picnics

The rest is summer: a picnic basket in the park, sandcastles and beach balls, sailboats and a sailor sun waving beside a whale. The sun is everywhere, in shades, a straw hat and even a party hat.

The toddler pages, like the sun in cool shades, are Easy. The picnic and fireworks scenes with groups of kids have the most detail.

July ideas

  • Color the sky dark blue or black around the bursts for a nighttime look.
  • Pack a real picnic after coloring the picnic basket page.
  • Color a flag page and tape it to a straw to wave.

For eagles, the Liberty Bell and Uncle Sam's hat, see the 4th of July coloring pages. More beach scenes are on summer coloring pages.
